Normally I play blackjack, but am learning craps. This morning I stopped in for a little play. I was watching a craps game when one of the suits came up and told me that if I didn't have money in the game, I'd have to step away from the table. The table wasn't crowded, and I was neither blocking anyone's view or in the way of anyone attempting to play. This is the second time this sort of thing has happened to me at Ocean Downs – both times in the morning. The evening crew are more easy going. I had not been causing any kind of problem, yet was given a hard time for no reason that I could see. My guess is that by preventing a gambler from observing a game before joining in, the casino hopes to get suckers to blindly sit down at games that would otherwise be seen to be losers. The only thing the suit succeeded in doing was in depriving the casino of the opportunity to take my money, since after he spoke to me, I immediately left the building. Ocean Downs doesn't seem to know or care about cultivating a customer base. Presumably the casino is counting on the business of vacationers who may never return and therefore, to the casino, are undeserving of respect and fairness. Never see the drink person at the table games...alcohol expensive. Electronic roulette wheel out of service a lot. So I am at the one live roulette table...one dealer , always takes forever between spins. Should have a second person stacking and preparing winning bets. I had split a bet, ball falls and I win the split. Bit boss comes up after ball has landed and moves the chip to a corner bet. Only one dollar chip...after a big spat they agree that it was a split bet...never saw a chip moved after the ball had dropped.

I couldn't write a book on this but here goes. On the way out we decided to put $100 on black on the roulette table. The ball drops, the wheel spins and it lands on black. Great right? Well it said I didn't win. So..... I get the manager and they get he technician and they said that I played $100 on 19/22. Now, who the hell would bet that on 19/22 as their only bet? They told me they were sorry about my luck and I could file a complaint. Well.... take your money elsewhere, these guys are crooks.

No, it's not large, but good things often come in small packages. First of all, it's a non-smoking casino so I don't stink when I leave and I don't feel dirty. The machines are clean, new and loose! There are many newer machines and are kept in good working condition. The staff is extremely friendly and quite visible. The counter service eating area is clean and comfortable. The pizza and sandwiches are second to none. Their specialty menu items are first quality. The comps are also good.
