Played craps for 2 hours. I thought the table staff to be very friendly and the wait staff as well. The only tables were a $15 min. But if you bet smart, play smart you can do well. If you throw chips around like you're James Bond on every roller, expect big losses and a bad time.

After playing for a time, I was instructed that I was prohibited to look at my cards, once my final bet was placed. I requested a copy of the "playing rules" so I could verify this was an accurate demand according to the rules in place. I was told there are no written rules available to customers. This was told to me by Jewel Canarenne and then confirmed by another floor person, Joey Tran. Not sure this was in fact true, as I believe according to Louisiana Gaming Control board there are regulations regarding the availability of rules for each and every game being offered in every casino. Please let me know if in fact Harrah's Louisiana doesn't have any written rules for a customer to review. I'm spoiled by Vegas. Heck we got better Tuesday deals than that in my home town in NC. The video poker was decent. Not enough tables and we made the mistake of being there on a SATURDAY night and hoo boy talk about crowded! I read all the reviews about problems in Harrah's parking garage, terrible. We stayed at the Hilton across the street for a convention and came back for the buffets for a quick breakfast. Love having casino action in the middle of a city. Period. And New Orleans food is too die for. Just ask my doctor and my waistline. We parked by the elevators within eye shot of where guests would be taking the elevator. After gaming a few hours during the afternoon we returned to our vehicle and found it broken into! Stolen was an indash GPS/Sirus Radio combo unit valued at over $2500! Advised both Harrah's Security and New Orleans Police of the incident, whereas both came to the garage and took reports, and N.O. Police dusted for fingerprints and took their report for record. We were advised by both Harrah's Security and N.O. Police that over 8 additional break-ins had happened that day! Incident occurred during day on a Thursday. Owner of vehicle has not received any compensation from Harrah's for the break-in and will probably never see a dime from them. Sad commentary is, following that event I was taking my Uncle to Harrah's the next Thursday and while driving into Harrah's Garage was talking about the previous week's incident and was going to show him where the break-in occurred on the third level of the garage. When getting to that level was met with N.O. Police cars at the same location my brothers vehicle was broken into. There were two vehicles side by side that were robbed and while driving up the next 3 levels counted 7 other vehicles that we seen with their windows busted out and trunks ajarred that had been vandalized!!! Stopped by one customer's vehicle and he reported to us that Police were on their way to get his report, but was advised by them that more than 10 vehicles were reported broken into that day!!! Come on Harrah's!! The money your customers spend gaming in your facility should at least warrant decent Security measures within your parking facilities!!! After our experience at New Orleans Harrah's, we have been told and have read that daily muggings of customers and break-ins are common occurrences! Shame on the criminals, but more importantly Shame on Harrah's for continuing to let this happen to their customers. My family and I are of many now that will not be visiting your facility again. I did like playing at Harrah's, but like living safely and without worry when visiting gaming sites to play at. Other facilities we do visit have Security in place to help minimize such occurrences. Why not Harrah's??? Another note - My cousin, an elderly 80's customer, after gaming in the Harrah's Poker Room a couple of years ago, was leaving the casino about 1 a.m. on the Poydras Street side of the Casino when he was attacked and beaten up, robbed of his belongs and money right outside the casino's doors!!! Over 80 and thank God he was a Strong individual for his age to survive that attack. "Come On" Harrah's let's try and protect your most precious resource..... Your Customers! ]]> Mon, 01 Feb 2010 11:11:11 +0000 <![CDATA[Harrah's New Orleans: Poker Room review]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/louisiana/harrahs-new-orleans.html/discussions/2502816 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/louisiana/harrahs-new-orleans.html/discussions/2502816

Poker Room review: No overwhelming pro's/con's for this poker room, but a great poker room overall. Dealers are efficient and friendly, but a few times not so friendly amongst themselves.

Great game of Limit Hold'em & Omaha split at $4/$8, which made the trip worth it. Didn't play at the No-Limit tables, but I heard a lot of action from the players, but none were out of control.

I've been to over 20 poker rooms, and this room did not dissapoint.

<![CDATA[Harrah's New Orleans: Poker Room & Table Games]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/louisiana/harrahs-new-orleans.html/discussions/2502061 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/louisiana/harrahs-new-orleans.html/discussions/2502061 Made a quick weekend trip to New Orleans to play some poker at Harrahs Casino. The poker area was full of poker players on a Saturday afternoon. We had to wait a little while to get seated, but not too long. One thing that was different playing here versus other casinos I've played poker in was they didn't take a normal rake from each hand. However, each half hour, they would require each player to pay $6. So, this equates to a $12/hour "fee" per player to play. Oh, and if you've played at one of the other Harrahs properties where you can use your TotalRewards card in the poker room, this is not the case here. No comps for poker.

Also, table game limits were set pretty high. The whole weekend we almost did not see any blackjack for less than $15/hand. On Sunday morning, we did find one $10/hand table, but that was it. Most tables were at least $15/hand.

The casino is a decent size for slot players. There were lots of machines all over the place. ]]>
