I have had tons of fun over the years st riverside casino. But in the past 18 months management has been putting their money in the wrong pockets. Slots just don't pay. Its no longer fun. I expect to pay to play. I don't expect Anything for free. But they are just so cheap! They have a charity match. You give 10 dollars and they give you 10 in free play. But no more than 10! Just cheap. This month they are giving away Coca Cola. Gamble a hundred and they will give you a carton of coke. The merchandise in the pro shop and the boutique and their gift shop is cheap and overpriced. You expect casino merchandise to be 30 to 40 percent higher than retail. But at least you expect some quality. The staff are good. Some more surly than others. The VIP staff are great. The give aways are not worth the effort and the drawings are a joke. It seems to me that management has put too much money into developing new properties and spending money to lobby against other properties being built. For myself at the highest card level I expect a certain amount of free play dropped on my card and when I see that slashed to less than half my expectations then I stop going after awhile. Typically I take my free play x 5. So that if you give me 50 I'll pull out 250 cash to start my round of play I usually play around 5 hours at a time. So now when I go to rcag I pull out less cash. This casino has been around long enough that it is rough around the edges. They need a staff and environmental refresh. It all feels old and stale like their ridiculous give aways.
Sometime in the last few months, Riverside set Video Poker machines to offer way less points than before. Takes forever now to get a few dollars back. The VP had terrible payouts even before this. Jumers is a better deal!
I have been coming to Riverside Casino from the time they opened...I pay a cab everytime I go which takes $50 off the top. I don't go to any other Casino in Iowa due to me having PTSD and scared to be in cars but since its so close that is where I go to try and have a lil fun. When they opened it was a great place to go and me being a senior made that my place of enjoyment. As yrs have passed the slots have gotten so tight you cant even play I am a regular customer along with a few others I have met there and Im seeing so many not even going there anymore. Its just NO FUN at all anymore and I guess I will just have to find another type of entertainment for myself. I sometimes go twice a week and cant even play because they break me everytime. I understand gambling is a chance you take but my God can a regular customer win at least once a year and leave with a smile on our face ? If we win were just coming back to spend it again anyway......Whats the deal RIVERSIDE ????
The casino and hotel itself are very impressive to the eye, the hotel rooms are excellent and the pool is good. When the casino first opened the slot play was okay, but as they "progress", the casino has been pulling out the higher pay percentage slots and replacing them with more and more gimmicky penny machine where the payoff pcts are quite low. Appears to me they are starting to cater more to the occasional gambler who drops in via bus, rather than the local gambler who wants their dollar to stretch a little further. The video poker machines are set at what I would consider well below industry standard payoffs. The listed slot percentage payoffs are and a near Iowa low of 91%, and with the more and more penny machines moving in I wouldn't expect that to get any higher any time soon. Now if you are looking for decent dining, good array of tables games and a nice drinking atmosphere you will enjoy it very much...but if you are a slot/video poker player, I would say you may be somewhat disappointed with your payoff.
If you like playing slots they are bound to have some of your favorite machines but I find they are very tight. Very seldom have I seen people winning, for casino action I prefer other casino's in the area. I have stopped going here pretty much all together now the rooms are top notch and the golf is fantastic and the table games are plentiful,The buffet is subpar compared to others but ruthies is very tasty. I would have to say their slot club is the worst of any.(very stingy) Central bar can be very slow to take your order and drinks are no bargain. They do get some great entertainment and that is usualy when I will go there. Hope this helps.
