When this casino was located on the boat it was something very special. Unfortunately I am new to casinos and only had the opportunity to visit the casino on the boat once. But, i will say it was something to remember. I played for HOURS. The four different levels and walking up and down the stairs of the ship showed off so much character. The new casinos in nice but very plain compared to the old boat. Not to mention they got rid of hundreds of their slot machines. I did well the first time I visited the new facility but I will always miss the charm and the old slot machines that the riverboat had. Out of all the riverboats along the ohio river, this was the best one (and the largest one in the country) and it is sad to see that it was turned into something that feels much smaller and has a lot less character. But, I will still visit here because it is a fun casino, just not like what it used to be. I do appreciate the new food court area though. My wishful thinking is that another casino license will buy the boat and turn it into another great casino somewhere along the ohio river. I'm sure i'm not the only one that misses the boat.

WOW!! It's quite a hike! There are 4 floors about 100'x500' of casino space accessed by escalators. Nice variety of machines, had a Chardonnay at the bar $6.00 OUCH. It's tough paying for drinks in casinos, when you're used to getting them for free. The buffet at this casino has been closed since January, so either eat at the high end steakhouse, or the cafe. We ate at JB'S cafe, our only low price option in the casino, and the closest restaurant to drive to is 15 miles away. We had onion rings & chili & they were OUTSTANDING!! Big room & very nice bedding!

Extremely long walk to get to the casino itself. Playing 5.00 3 card in the early afternoon. Holding my own. At 2.30 the pit boss comes over to announce that all 5.00 tables are going to a 10.00 min. bet. Again at 8.30 that evening another announcement that the 10.00 tables are going to a 15.00 min. bet. Talk about greedy. Playing blackjack with the plus 3 bonus, I hit three of a kind spade nines. I should have been paid for three of a kind and a flush hand. Only got paid for the 3 of a kind. Told me that is just the way it is. They tend to make up the rules as they go along. I am a nonsmoker and the smoke inside on all floors except the first floor is suffocating. Tried to eat at Binions steak house, but 50.00 for a steak is ridiculous. No wonder they don't post the prices in the menu. We went to Paula Deans instead. Nothing to write home about, just ok, overpriced buffet. I have played in a lot of casinos and this is the poorest excuse for casino entertainment I have ever experienced. I will never be returning to Horseshoe again.

As I entered Louisville, I was greeted by a sign that the bridge on I-64 was closed. I spent an hour in traffic trying to find a detour. Finally, I called the casino and was told the only way there was to go north to the perimeter highway and then come back south. So, I ended up spending nearly two hours going for what should have been a 20 minute drive. When I checked in at the hotel, I asked why I had not received a notice about the closure and was told some emails had been sent. Since I had had a hotel reservation for several months, I could not figure out why I didn't get a notice. Plus, the parking area next to the parking garage was closed off and I had to park my motorhome nearly out of sight of the hotel. Again, I asked why they didn't have a parking area close by for motorhomes and was given a "just because we don't" answer. I ate dinner at the Paula Dean buffet and some of the irritation was eased by the good food and excellent service. After 9 hours of driving and my frustration with the hotel, I limited my play to just an hour. In addition, I canceled my return visit as I went back south primarily to avoid Louisville.

Granted, I can't take weekly trips down here as it is 2 hours away, but once a month i have something to look forward too and get excited about. The boat is huge they are not joking about the 93,000 square feet on four levels. It really doesn't feel like you are on a riverboat sometimes it's that massive. Horseshoe does a great job with the experience and the features. Everything is so shiny and glitzy and that is what I like-visual stimulation! Craps are awesome-100x odds, blackjack is steller (my favorite game) and honestly, after two trips so far, maybe it's just luck, but the slots are compared to hollywood, rising star (grand victoria got a name change) and belterra pay out a lot and more often. Customer Service was fine - I can usually help myself. The Paula Dean Buffet was good and everything-bread pudding was amazing. Hotel is not needed as it's only 2 hours away. When they get finished building the Horseshoe here in Cincy in a year and a half, I hope it emulates some of Horseshoe SI's awesomeness.

I USUALLY JUST PLAY VP, CHEAPLY AS POSSIBLE, EAT BUFFETS AND SLEEP AT MOST CASINOS I VISIT ,NOT COUNTING MY LOCAL MGM DETROIT. I COMMUTE THERE THRICE WEEKLY.
HORSESHOE INDIANA'S GOTTA HAVE THE LONGEST WALK FROM YOUR
ROOM TO THE CASINO.
ROOMS ARE QUITE NICE, AND QUIET,RELATIVELY SPEAKING.
THERE ARE GOLF CARTS RUNNING THAT TAKE YOU HALFWAY. THE PAULA DEEN BUFFET IS OUTSTANDING. SOME FULL PAY 9/6 JOB AT QUARTER LEVEL
IT'S A 4 STORY DOCKSIDE BOAT, SUPPOSEDLY THE LARGEST IN THE USA.
YOU'RE ONLY 15 MILES FROM LOUISVILLE. PAY FOR DRINKS.

I think all Harrah's properties are tight. Nice hotel, but agree will need updated soon. Nice to get free hotel comps that's the only reason to keep going back because slots are so tight. Mailings and comps unpredictable sometimes you get them sometimes you don't..(???)

Otherwise, I can't complain, as the Horseshoe SI has friendly staff, and is my favorite place to play Video Poker in Indiana. I've had way more luck here over the years than any other casino, even when compared to LV properties.

I agree with many previous reviews in that there should be free drinks in Indiana casinos, but I don't think that will ever happen in this state.

Good VP, great drink service and friendly staff. The only downside for me is the high table game limits. I like to play $5 or $10 blackjack, which is almost impossible to find, especially on weekends. However, as long as they have decent VP, I'll keep going back.

They want you there every day and send Diamond players some offer almost every day in the mail. From a cheap T shirt to a Crock Pot, the gifts run the gambit of junk. Most of the employees are top notch, very friendly and helpful.

If you have a Good Casino Host, they will bend over backwards to accommodate you. Problem is, just when things are rolling along, the Host either quits or gets fired.

The food in the Diamond lounge at nights is some of the cheapest and unappetizing in Southern Indiana.

The Jack Binion's Steak House Chef, Josh, is excellent and has finally started to improve what has to have been the worst buffet in America.

The VIP partys are usually top notch with great food and free drinks. On a couple of occasions they have been poor. The servers at the events again go all out to serve you.

The poker room has 30 tables I think and the dealers are a good group. However, they run what they call "Free Roll" tournaments and they do not give anywhere near the amount of money that is advertised, but entry fees into another game which is BS.

Previous comments about the hotel are true. It is a dump with sewage back up if you stay on the first floor down by the elevators to the pool. I think I spent my 2??.
