The hotel is decent enough. I am not a smoker. To get to the non smoking section, you have to walk through the entire smoking section. I spent 30 minutes total in the casino and had to leave because my nose was burning and my throat was sore. I smell like an ashtray. Plus the slots in the non smoking section are all old. It is 9pm and I’m back in my room. So much for a fun weekend. ]]> Fri, 29 Mar 2019 01:13:26 +0000 <![CDATA[Hollywood Casino & Hotel - Lawrenceburg: Hude]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2509673 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2509673

<![CDATA[Hollywood Casino & Hotel - Lawrenceburg: Beware of food and smoke]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2509668 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2509668 Without a doubt this has the worst buffet we've ever had. All of the food was lukewarm and bland. Mashed potatoes were lumpy. Ham was dry and salty. Fried chicken was greasy and there were no legs. Ice tea tasted like it came from the Ohio River. $22 for this is ludicrous. Casino used to have a good non-smoking area on the lower level. But, for whatever reason, that level has been closed for months. Non-smoking area is now on the main level which causes the smoke to circulate throughout the whole casino! Who wants to get lung cancer from second hand smoke!? We will NEVER go back to this casino until this serious health issue is remedied. ]]> Fri, 08 Mar 2019 16:12:02 +0000 <![CDATA[Hollywood Casino & Hotel - Lawrenceburg: casinos for gambling.. not winning]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2506122 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2506122 it amazes me to see such ignorant comments regarding the casino relating to winning. When you gamble, play the lottery, etc, there is no guaranteed win.... that's why its called GAMBLING!!!! if you go to the casino expecting to win, you are too stupid to breathe and therefore you SHOULD lose your money!!! Look at the place, do you think it was built on free money?? get a reality check or call the gamblers anonymous hotline if you think you are supposed to win when you gamble. yes, it's nice to win but you should not expect it. As far as the cigarette smoke, that is really bad, but again, you are in a casino, which is basically a gathering place for addicts. smoking, gambling, drinking... all addictive behaviors go together and again if you don't know that you are stupid ]]> Sun, 18 Nov 2012 15:07:53 +0000 <![CDATA[Hollywood Casino & Hotel - Lawrenceburg: Dont waste your time]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2505988 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2505988 Found out that Hollywood has been fined for I paying out their share of winnings. The promo play is a joke because the slot machine always takes your money and doesn't give back. They are losing money and business due to the new casinos in Ohio. Two of which are theirs. Harrah's Casino is a much better casino with great comps. Hollywood in Indiana looks like a ghost town. ]]> Tue, 25 Sep 2012 20:03:31 +0000 <![CDATA[Hollywood Casino & Hotel - Lawrenceburg: Beautiful Casino With An Awful Smell ]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2505631 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2505631 Beautiful facility. Greeted by friendly staff at the Player's Club booth. Excellent selection of slots - wide variety at most play levels. Floor layout made it easy to get around without the usual cramped and congested feel of some casinos. Arrived very early in the day with easy parking and minimal crowd. However, before 11AM the entire place stunk from cigerette smoke. I am not smoke sensitive and can usually tolerate being around smokers but this was terrible. There is a designated players area for smokers but it seems to be totally ignored as smokers roamed the entire casino and half filled ashtrays were just about everywhere. We cut our day trip short and left 4 hours earlier than planned just to get away from the horrific smoke smell. Drove half way back to Dayton with the car windows open to help get the stench from our clothes. Either the facility has insufficient ventilation or the air handlers were not working properly. I can see this casino taking a major hit when the 4 Ohio SMOKE FREE casinos are all up and running. Too bad they spent so much money building this beautiful facility and failed to spend a few extra bucks for some no smoking signs. ]]> Tue, 05 Jun 2012 21:47:23 +0000 <![CDATA[Hollywood Casino & Hotel - Lawrenceburg: Incompetent security ]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2505532 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2505532 Went there w/family from out of state and was discriminated against based on age. All of us were over 21 but looked young. Not all of us were ID'd. The security guy would not accept a LEGIT North Carolina license. We were denied access even though we were all of age. Don't waste your time or money there. SUCH INCOMPETENCE!!! ]]> Mon, 07 May 2012 17:26:06 +0000 <![CDATA[Hollywood Casino & Hotel - Lawrenceburg: HATED IT]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2505389 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2505389 Me and my husband visited the Hollywood in March 2012. As soon as we entered the casino the terrbile odor of smoke hit us. We proceeded to play the slots. What a waste of time! The penny slots actually cost about $8.00 a roll. If you do win at the slot machine you only win a fraction of your initial bet. All you do is lose at this place. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! The only good thing this place has is the crab legs on Fridays. I cant wait until Cincinatti opens their casino. My advice to you is save the money you would spend at the Hollywood and wait until Cincinatti opens! ]]> Sun, 25 Mar 2012 17:29:21 +0000 <![CDATA[Hollywood Casino & Hotel - Lawrenceburg: 2 Cents Worth]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2505381 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2505381 I have been going to Hollywood/Argosy for several years. Greeted by Security every time. Most Table game dealers are not talkative or friendly. ATM fee's just went up to $5.00........... They now have .50 chips in the poker room, because the house increased the rake. Rumor has it they fired several dealers because they were not taking the 50 cent chips and for the house. Always wait for a table during busy times. Cant wait for Cincinnati to open. Did I mention $5.00 ATM fee. Ridiculous. Never stayed in Hotel. Parking is always available. ]]> Wed, 21 Mar 2012 01:39:27 +0000 <![CDATA[Hollywood Casino & Hotel - Lawrenceburg: Where are the smiles?]]> https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2505056 https://www.americancasinoguidebook.com/indiana/hollywood-casino-a-hotel-lawrenceburg.html/discussions/2505056 I go to casinos more often than I should. That being said, when this was Argosy, I won often, say three times out of each 5 visits. Since changing to Hollywood, I win maybe one time out of 15 visits. What I notice the most is the unfriendly staff at Hollywood. The only people that ever speak to me are the guards at the entrance. I walk by staff people often, wearing suits or the floor staff outfits and NEVER do they smile or even look at me and NEVER speak! The comp system has finally changed, the old system was ridiculous, you could not find out how much you had until after you ordered your food. However, I cannot recall one time when I did not get whatever it was I was wanting. I was there a couple days ago and experienced the new comps system. After losing 150 bucks without hitting anything bigger than a cherry symbol, I had accumulated 46 cents in comps! I, for one, am looking forward to Harrah's new casino in Cincy. I know that the comps from Harrah's are extremely generous. I can lose a thousand bucks at Hollywood and still get 20 dollars in free slot play while Harrah's sends me 150 bucks. Also at Hollywood, you can never cash in two perks on the same day, if you have free slot play, it is not any good when the Mystery Cash day rolls around. How cheap can you get? Once Harrah's opens in Cincy, it is going to be BYE-BYE Hollywood for me. ]]> Sat, 07 Jan 2012 18:19:49 +0000
