Me and my husband visited the Hollywood in March 2012. As soon as we entered the casino the terrbile odor of smoke hit us. We proceeded to play the slots. What a waste of time! The penny slots actually cost about $8.00 a roll. If you do win at the slot machine you only win a fraction of your initial bet. All you do is lose at this place. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! The only good thing this place has is the crab legs on Fridays. I cant wait until Cincinatti opens their casino. My advice to you is save the money you would spend at the Hollywood and wait until Cincinatti opens!
I have been going to Hollywood/Argosy for several years. Greeted by Security every time. Most Table game dealers are not talkative or friendly. ATM fee's just went up to $5.00........... They now have .50 chips in the poker room, because the house increased the rake. Rumor has it they fired several dealers because they were not taking the 50 cent chips and for the house. Always wait for a table during busy times. Cant wait for Cincinnati to open. Did I mention $5.00 ATM fee. Ridiculous. Never stayed in Hotel. Parking is always available.
I go to casinos more often than I should. That being said, when this was Argosy, I won often, say three times out of each 5 visits. Since changing to Hollywood, I win maybe one time out of 15 visits. What I notice the most is the unfriendly staff at Hollywood. The only people that ever speak to me are the guards at the entrance. I walk by staff people often, wearing suits or the floor staff outfits and NEVER do they smile or even look at me and NEVER speak! The comp system has finally changed, the old system was ridiculous, you could not find out how much you had until after you ordered your food. However, I cannot recall one time when I did not get whatever it was I was wanting. I was there a couple days ago and experienced the new comps system. After losing 150 bucks without hitting anything bigger than a cherry symbol, I had accumulated 46 cents in comps! I, for one, am looking forward to Harrah's new casino in Cincy. I know that the comps from Harrah's are extremely generous. I can lose a thousand bucks at Hollywood and still get 20 dollars in free slot play while Harrah's sends me 150 bucks. Also at Hollywood, you can never cash in two perks on the same day, if you have free slot play, it is not any good when the Mystery Cash day rolls around. How cheap can you get? Once Harrah's opens in Cincy, it is going to be BYE-BYE Hollywood for me.
Well i don't wanna talk bad about this place, but it's gonna happen here goes.
1. Slots - Don't waste your time in the back or downstairs... wear latex gloves because they got smoke stench and some of those games are old and broken i'd be afraid to catch something. Plus you gotta play alot to even get paid. I won ONE time during my visit and that was only 200 bucks and yes i do and did play between 30c to $2 during ALL of my visits.... just a waste of money so i only take 20 to 30 in anymore and yes just to kill time.
2. Table games - Played a few way crowded and people over my shoulders... pretty typical but not bad.
3. Customer Service - Unless they been there a while and have actually walked the floor... don't expect much.
4. Player's Club - HAHAHHHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!
5. Gaming Atmo - Basically from the front entrance to the stairs is about the safest, everything in back is dirty and old and really kinda not lit to my liking, but it's just an ugh feeling if they remodeled anything the back should have been done right along with the front end.
6. Hotels are great from what i hear and have seen, but i wouldn't stay only cause it's kinda outta the way for anything you really wanna do and the food and drinks are great... at least they have good food.
