Well i don't wanna talk bad about this place, but it's gonna happen here goes.
1. Slots - Don't waste your time in the back or downstairs... wear latex gloves because they got smoke stench and some of those games are old and broken i'd be afraid to catch something. Plus you gotta play alot to even get paid. I won ONE time during my visit and that was only 200 bucks and yes i do and did play between 30c to $2 during ALL of my visits.... just a waste of money so i only take 20 to 30 in anymore and yes just to kill time.
2. Table games - Played a few way crowded and people over my shoulders... pretty typical but not bad.
3. Customer Service - Unless they been there a while and have actually walked the floor... don't expect much.
4. Player's Club - HAHAHHHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!
5. Gaming Atmo - Basically from the front entrance to the stairs is about the safest, everything in back is dirty and old and really kinda not lit to my liking, but it's just an ugh feeling if they remodeled anything the back should have been done right along with the front end.
6. Hotels are great from what i hear and have seen, but i wouldn't stay only cause it's kinda outta the way for anything you really wanna do and the food and drinks are great... at least they have good food.
I visited this casino a few years ago when it was Argosy. I loved the gaming there, but WOW! The new place is amazing. We were playing on a Friday and there was a large crowd, plenty of excitement, I won and I saw and heard a lot of others winning. The celebrity dealers were great. They were very engaging and fun to be around.
I played slots from Penny to $5. I can’t say I won on every game, but my money seemed to last and I was able to win the bonus spins often. I had the best luck on the $1 games. I hit a few jackpots and the workers that paid me were awesome. The friendliest staff I have seen in a long time.
To top it all off we stopped in Boogie nights club. This was super high energy and really took me back with the retro theme.
I’m looking forward to another trip soon.
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Hollywood Casino/Hotel on (Tuesday) July 12, 2011. I was impressed at the beauty of the building and the gardens. We had no problem finding parking. The attendants were very attentive and courteous. We arrived in our room on the 3rd floor. I am a non-smoker and was impressed that there was no stench of cigarette smoke in the hallways or room. The room was very large. It appeared to be clean and we were happy with the price. But.....continue...
I'm not a gambler myself but enjoy people watching. My boyfriend played the tables. I have been to the casinos in New Orleans and in Illinois. At the Hollywood Casino, I noticed there was no excitement. The dealers/attendants were doing their job but they could have easily been machines standing there because they had no personalities. I watched as people poured their money into the slots, pressing button after button and I never saw anyone "happy"...or indicating that they had won anything. At the other casinos, people would gather around when someone was on a roll and be excited with them. The machines would sound but as I looked around ~ these people were not winning... Back to the tables....people would roll the dice and the attendants, again, would make their announcements and would switch out every few minutes but they carried on personal conversations about car racing, etc. while the visitors are rolling the dice. They'd watch the dice then look out into the crowd. They never paid attention to their customers....These employees desperately need motivational training so that their enthusiasm can rub off on to crowd.
Later that evening we at the Passport Buffet. I thought it was nice and had a nice variety of food. It's pricey but we were given a voucher when we arrived so that when we paid for one dinner at $22, the other was free. I would not have have spent $44 on the buffet.
Back to the room...We made several trips from the room to the casino. After leaving the tv on when we left the room twice, when we returned to the room, the tv was off. I haven't figured that one out yet...but everything appeared to be accounted for. It did make me think twice before leaving my purse in the room when I left. Then...the bad part...
The next morning, I had a business meeting to attend. I knew that I'd itched during the night and when I went to the mirror, my eye was swelled nearly shut. There was a bed bug bite on my eye. A bite on the cheek of my face. Two bites on my lower jaw. Four bites on my legs and several from my elbow to my wrists! I reported it to the front desk as we left and that was it...
I just don't think that I want to go back there....
My husband and I went to Hollywood casino on 5/26/11. We were thrilled to go to the casino and drove 4 and a half hours away to get there. We checked into our room and then went to go look for a place to park. The lady at the front desk told us there was 2 parking lots to park in. We drove around for 25 minutes trying to find somewhere to park and there were no open spots (both of the parking lots were very small). My husband called the front desk to ask where he can park because there were no open spots where she said and her suggestion was to just find a spot in one of those two lots. After driving around for another ten minutes with no luck we decided to just valet our car. The valet men were extremely nice but when we got to our room that's when the real problems started. My husband said he would like a non-smoking room because he is allergic to smoke. They gave us a smoking room and my husband tried to deal with it and after 15 minutes he could barely breathe and was coughing up a lung. He called the front desk to see if we could switch rooms and they told him he was told he got a smoking room and that a non-smoking room was just a preference and no guarantee. They were extremely rude about the situation and after talking to a supervisor they refused to do anything about it and told us to check-out and there are other hotels. We decided to leave the hotel and the lady at the front desk that my husband spoke to continued to be extremely rude and have an attitude. My husband asked for a receipt after checking out and she told us we would not get one because he never got charged on his card. On Tuesday the charge still appeared on his card so he called the place and the lady at he front desk never checked us out of the room so they told my husband they will not refund him because the computer says he never checked out. They accused us of never checking out and after arguing with someone on the phone and telling them to view the cameras to see our check out he told him they he did not have time to do that. My husband had to fax them all of his information that he had on checking into their hotel then faxed them the information of us checking into another hotel. Finally after going to the trouble of faxing everything to them they said he will get his money back. We are still waiting to see if we really will or not. I could not believe the amount of rude people working there. They have HORRIBLE customer service and do not care about your well being. I have never seen a business run their facility like they do!!
We tried to make the best out our situation because it was 9:30pm we did not want to drive over 4 hours back home so we ended up going to the casino and winning a couple hundred dollars. It felt so good to take money from them but I will NEVER go back!!!
I remember the first time I entered Hollywood. Wow what fun and excitement! I really liked this casino above the other local casino's. Bright lights, music, smiles, free soda, excellent food although a little pricey, big screens and staff that sang and danced oh how fun then I sat at a slot machine and the rush quickly left. I was ready to stay a few hours but, within an hour and a half, I was broke! I was sure I would eventually win something back but, I was wrong. I took in the atmosphere for the next couple of hours then drove an hour and a half back home. A couple of months later I returned. I walked up to a slot and bet the maximum bet 3 times and won over $200.00! Fantastic! I turned around and gave all of that back plus $200.00 more within 3 hours again thinking I should be able to win something back. Again, I go home broke. This has been the same routine for the last year. Quickly lose and go home broke. I'm playing usually the penny and sometimes the quarter slots by the way. On my last visit I took a bag of change as always in the past. I go to the "cage" to have it converted to bills and 3 out of 4 times of doing this I'm hassled by the girls working there. I felt scolded for playing with my $200.00 of change. On this trip, my coat was stolen after I left it on a chair back. I realized quickly what I had done and immediately went back for it and it was gone! How rude! By this time, I had all of the fun I could take and left discouraged again. It is impossible to win at their slots. I have played all day long several times at Belterra and only spent 60.00. They have fun machines with lots of room where I could sit alone if I choose. Bells and whistles ringing constantly and people cheering! That place is addictive because it is so much fun. Hollywood on the other hand is a lot more quiet. You don't hear the jackpots or see people standing around cheering other winners on. Why? Because it's difficult to win there! I thought it was just me. That's how I ended up on here. It's NOT just me. My friend commented to me today that Hollywood just isn't fun any more. She and a friend went to the next casino down? Grand Victoria? They played and actually came home with extra money! I know everyone can not win BUT with as many times as we have been, we shouldn't lose everything EVERY time! Ready to play in Ohio or at least another casino. The one nice thing I will say is the restrooms are kept very clean!
