If the Las Vegas Strip isn’t your scene, head downtown to Fremont Street to check out some of the more classic Vegas gaming spots. One of the oldest casinos in Las Vegas, The Golden Nugget is also one of the city’s most popular casinos. The resort’s deluxe rooms are located in the Carson Tower and each comes wiht robes, iron and ironing boards, hair dryers and safe deposit boxes. In the gold tower, the slightly upgraded rooms feature feather down comforters, Egyptian cotton bed linens, goose down pillows and 42” plasma TVs. These rooms vary in price from $79-$199. Suites feature whirlpool baths, wet bars and living room areas. Suites also include admission into the exclusive VIP Lounge and prices range from $175-$750.

Guests of the hotel can spend some time at the resort’s impressive pool area. This $30 million complex includes a shark tank, a three-story waterslide where riders travel down a clear tube directly through the shark tank, a two-story infinity pool and 13 cabanas available for rent. The Golden Nugget also features a full spa/salon, arcade and, just off the hotel lobby, visitors can see the world’s largest gold nugget (61 pounds) on display.

The Golden Nugget has several options when it comes to dining: Vic and Anthony’s is an upscale steakhouse, featuring beef, lobster, and many other dining options. It has been voted Best Steak, Best Food, and Best Service in Las Vegas by Open Table.

Chart House offers various types of seafood in a unique dining environment, centered around a 75,000-gallon tropical fish aquarium.

The Grotto features authentic Italian classics such as pastas, veal, and other meat dishes in a friendly, family atmosphere.

Lillie’s Asian Cuisine serves up Cantonese and Szechwan cuisine and offers regular dining as well as exciting Teppanyaki cooking tables.

For a more casual dining experience, check out the Buffet or The Grille for a quick bite. The buffet offers breakfast ($12.99), lunch ($14.99) and dinner ($20.99) daily. Friday and Saturday is the seafood dinner ($26.99) and on Saturday and Sunday the buffet serves a Champagne Brunch ($18.99).

The casino at the Golden Nugget offers Blackjack, Craps, Roulette, Let it Ride, Pai Gow Poker, three Card Poker and Mini-Baccarat as well as slots and video poker. In January 2011, the resort unveiled the first GOLD To Go ATM in Las Vegas. The vending machine dispenses 24-karat gold bars of various weights ranging between one and 250 grams. The vending machine also sells traditional gold coins and signature gold bars featuring the Golden Nugget logo.

Just steps from the Golden Nugget’s entrance is the world-famous Fremont Street Experience which runs every night, starting at dusk. The show is a multimedia presentation featuring lights, video and music on a giant LED screen 90 feet above the ground. Shows begin on the hour, every hour, through midnight.
